Lego enthusiast builds time machine!

Lego was my no.1 toy for many years as a child and a young teenager. Endless hours creating such diverse things as police/fire stations, trains, aircraft, spacecraft, tanks, amphibious landing craft and...er, time machines! Yes, honestly, I made a few attempts to invent a time traveling machine with my Lego, but could never get the damn thing to work. I made several versions with various tweaks, bells and whistles etc. but just couldn't get it to go back and forth in time! I also tried to invent a teleportation machine to transfer my purple Lotus Europa, (a matchbox die cast model, not the real thing!) from my bedroom to the garden shed. I spent a long time working on these concepts, but to no avail. Never once did it occur to me how I was going to fit into my time machine as the thing was only about the size of a shoebox, and besides that why didn't I save all the hassle and heartache involved with transferring matter and just pick the bl**dy model car up and take it downstairs and into the garden shed by myself ! So apart from from not being able to make a fully operational time machine or teleportation pods, Lego was still king for me. Maybe with the new generation Lego I can succeed in my desire to conquer time and space! I can't wait until my son Ronnie stops trying to eat anything and everything in sight, so I can buy for him (and myself, of course) Lego once more. Today they have a truly fantastic array of sets that a child (and father) will never get board with, from Star Wars, Indiana Jones and... er, SpongeBob SquarePants and Bob the Builder to name but a few.

What was your favorite toy as a child or teenager? Ker-Plunk, Klackers, Mousetrap, Buckaroo, Spacehopper, Scalextric, Dinkey, Tonka, Hotwheels, Flighdeck...the list is endless and open for serious analysis.
